Supervision for Coaches and Managers
Supervision provides a space for you to reflect on your work and to receive structured, non-collusive support from the supervisor - questions, challenge, confidentiality, observation, input.
You will have an opportunity to:
describe your work in a confidential and creative environment;
make sense of your experiences, frustrations, excitements, puzzles and challenges;
identify and explore the personal and professional and systemic dimensions of your work, checking boundaries and tensions and contracts;
explore the transferences and counter-transferences created between you and your clients or staff;
check in with your values and purposes, to keep them in sight and maintain your ethical practice;
plan and anticipate: identify forthcoming events or stages in your working relationships and prepare for them;
generate ideas and strategies for responding, coping, changing, celebrating, managing and developing.
Supervision is increasingly regarded as a professional requirement for coaches - for example, see the guidance from the EMCC (European Mentoring and Coaching Council): link and the Association for Coaching: link
